Monday – A Team game v EHS C Team  Bus to EHS at 2:45 for 3:30 match…Parent pick up at EHS Winston Brown Field after the game.

Tuesday A and B Team v John Burroughs Game 3:15 bus departure from Liberty.  Students returning on the bus back to Liberty will text our arrival time.  If you are picking up from the game at JB please see at the game so I can mark you off my list. I’m not sure if the A or B game will be played first.

Wednesday – Practice at Liberty

Thursday – 2:15 dismissal for Practice at Plummer

Friday – 2:15 dismissal for Practice at Plummer

Let’s start off this communication with a weather update.  It’s hot! Too hot for practice. It is unfortunate but despite my best efforts I can’t control the weather. The girls have been very patient with doing Field Hockey lessons indoor, but I’m sure they are ready to get back to running, skills drills, and scrimmages.  I will be assigning uniform tops tonight after school (Wednesday).  If your student was not present they need to see me Thursday or Friday to get their uniform.  Practice Thursday has been canceled.  I’m hopeful for Friday. 

Next week A team is scheduled to play the C team at EHS Winston Brown Field.  We are still waiting on confirmation.  Wednesday we will play the Lincoln Wildcats at Liberty. Both A and B teams will play.  Rosters for both A and B teams will be sent tomorrow. The game is on the field behind Liberty near the tennis courts.  You may want to bring a lawn chair.  On Thursday both A and B squads will play at Westminster School in STL. 

A few parents missed the deadline for team spiritwear and requested the team store be reopened.  The store is open till 9/7/2024.  Follow the link below.

Due to extreme heat and safety concerns Field Hockey practice will not be held at Plummer Park Monday 8/26 or Tuesday 8/27.  We will have a modified practice at Liberty.  We will do some work in the classroom on how offensive and defensive corners will be done and we may do some walk throughs outside.  We will limit our outside time and any student that needs to head back inside will be allowed to do so.  Athletes should bring water, wear comfortable clothes, and no other gear will be necessary.  Students can be picked up from Liberty at 4:15 or take the activity bus home. 

Important notice to parents!  There will be no Activity Bus on 8/29 or 9/12!

The Ole Print Shop in Edwardsville will be producing our gear once again this year.  The gear from last year is still on the site along with some additional options.  The new shirts will have the Liberty "Challenge Accepted" Logo on the back and Panther playing Field Hockey on the front.  Hopefully, you all like the new design.  The store will close on August 26, 2024 and they will get gear to us ASAP.  Use the link below to check out the new swag.

Field Hockey Parents and Athletes,

I would like to welcome everyone to our 2024 Field Hockey Season at Liberty Middle School! I am excited to have the opportunity to work with your student this season and have some fun. I am also pleased we will continue to conduct practices on the turf at Plummer Family Park.  

Students will dismiss at 2:15 to board a bus at 2:20 to get to Plummer Park.  Practice will begin by 2:45 and end at 4:15. Parents can pick up their student at Plummer Park by 4:15 or students can catch the return bus to Liberty and take the Activity bus home at 4:30.   

Please remind students to change into comfortable workout clothes and fill up water bottles before practice. There were occasions last year that heat advisories shut practices down and we will allow students to contact you and let you know when these advisories happen. Safety first!

I will communicate with parents and athletes in several ways this season.  Big Teams Field Hockey Site, PowerSchool Email, and Schoology will all be utilized.  Use this link to set up your Big Teams Fan account.

I am very happy to welcome Coach Bre back again this year. Coach Bre graduated from EHS and played Field Hockey at EHS and in college. She brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to the program. We are lucky to have her.

The equipment provided includes socks, shin guards, mouth guards, and uniforms. Uniforms, socks, and shin guards will need to be returned at the end of the season. All students will need to have protective eyewear (FH goggles) to practice. I have some available but not enough for every player.

I have also opened the Field Hockey Webstore. If you would like to show your support for Liberty Field Hockey our team store is open now and will remain so till, August 26th. I have been told that we will have our gear ASAP.  The link below will emailed to parents, on our Schoology page, and on Big Teams.
